The 2023-IPL auction is to commence on 23rd December in Kochi, and the IPL franchises have tightened their belt to bid on the best players. The event is scheduled to kick in at 11 am IST.

In this auction, ten teams in total shall be battling against one another to purchase key players for their squad. Since the auction is going to be a mini one, most of the players have been retained by their team. The auction allows for a total of twenty-five players and all of the teams presently have between ten and sixteen players on their squads.

IPL Players

The 2023 auction is anticipated to have 650 players or so. Presently, a total of 163 players have been kept by the ten franchises, and around 85 have been released. The auction would include both the released players and the other players participating in the IPL.

At max, in this auction, all the franchisees can spend up to Rs. 95 crores. This is five crores greater than what we saw for the last year, which was Rs. 90 crores. Just as with any other IPL auction, this IPL season is also set to witness some heavy deals.

The season is going to witness the auction by a total of ten franchisees, bidding for their favourite players. These include Delhi Capitals (DC), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Mumbai Indians (MI), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

IPL teams purse left

The teams have a salary cap of amount Rs. 95 crores. However, all the teams have used some amount from their salary cap given that they have retained some of their key players. Going by the above equation, it seems that SRH’s salary cap is more than any other existing team in the IPL, i.e., Rs. 42.25 crores, on the other hand, the salary cap of KKR seems to be the lowest, i.e., Rs. 7.05 crores. IPL Live streaming

This year, Star Sports Channels has taken the charge of live telecasting the auction for Indian fans. It has gotten its claims in rights for official broadcasting of the events. The event can also be witnessed in Disney Hot Star.

Viacom 18, which saw its recent amalgamation with JioCinema, has gotten the digital rights for the 2023 IPL season.  Thus, the auction’s live streaming may also be viewed on Jio Cinema App.

The rest of the world shall be viewing the event through Viacom 18 and Times Internet, which have the right to broadcast the auction live.
